The Times They Are A Changing...

(Available here)

Change is in the air for me. I don't know if it is the onset of spring or more an urge to dispel the feelings of restlessness that I've been experiencing or both but I can feel myself pushing for something to alter.

I am in the process of moving my shop from Big Cartel to Etsy. As a customer it shouldn't affect you at all, if anything I think Etsy can be reassuring to some potential customers as it gives them the option to check up on you, the seller, which can only be a good thing! I have decided to switch platforms because I work full time and am therefore unable to do as much social networking and promotion as is necessary to gain enough traffic to an independent shop. Etsy has a great tagging system and therefore helps drive traffic for you. I'm not daft enough to think that I can rest on my laurels as I know that on Etsy I am just one of many jewellery makers but I think that it will be a good move for me. (On a side note I have found Big Cartel very easy to use, not as expensive as Etsy and easy to navigate. If you're thinking of giving them a go I thoroughly recommend them, it just isn't quite right for my needs at the moment.)

Other changes in my life at the moment...

*The little man above, my nephew Byron, has captured my heart. He is now five months old & he has grown so much since I last saw him! He is absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to try to get back down to Northampton again in a couple of weeks as I really don't want to miss out on all the tiny milestones.

*I've actually signed up for aqua-aerobic classes! No more just chatting about going to classes, I actually will be! I start in a couple of weeks & am quite excited. Although the thought of having my food baby displayed in my swimming cossie for all to see does fill me with dread. oh well. That's kinda why I'm going!

*Speaking of my food baby another change I'm trying to implement is my diet. Less takeaways (read: Dominoes), eating breakfast, yoghurt in the fridge so that I don't snack on crisps or chocolate and at least one vegetarian meal a week at home. I know that doesn't sound like much but I really am such a carnivore, however having read that on average we slaughter 15 million farm animals a year, quite a lot of which is wasted, I figured it was time I tried to curb my meat habit somewhat. Not every meal has to have meat in it.

*The biggest change I have to tell you about is... I've quit smoking! Yep, I know that quite a few of you probably didn't even realise that I smoked. However, if you know me in real life then you'll be proud to know that I'm on day 9. And not a nicorette in sight.

Any changes in your life right now?

Byron is a cutie, it's a lovely age. Well done on giving up the fags, it's so worth it. I suggest still getting out the money you'd have spent every day/week and putting it in a jar so you can physically see how much you save. Then a big treat at the end of a milestone - say six weeks.

We have at least one veggie meal a week too - my littlest now loves carrot and courgette burgers!

Well done on giving up smoking-if you do nothing else that is the BEST thing for you!As for meat, just try to eat a little less of it and eat good quality meat that is as local as possible..that is what we do and have a vegetarian meal once or twice a week too..
Good luck with all your changes!
Happy Easter too..
